We are ready to book our destination beach wedding with Sunshine Wedding Company, what should we do now?
Call us or email us as soon as you have chosen a date for your beach wedding. We will check our calendar for availability, be prepared to have a back up date just in case we are already booked for your preferred date, you want to be sure you have a reputable company like us to plan your beach wedding. Once determining availability you will need to pay the appropriate non-refundable deposit for the package you have selected, this deposit is a part of the total cost of your package, so if your package price is $1200 and you pay a $400 deposit, your balance would be $800. PLEASE NOTE: your date is not reserved until we receive your deposit. We accept all major credit cards, money orders and personal checks. Please keep in mind that Saturday wedding dates are the first to go. We do ask that if you are booking a Saturday wedding that your package be a minimum of $1600.00, occasionally we will make exceptions so please ask. Once the deposit for your beach wedding is received we will send you an email with some fun reading and a contract to sign and send back to us.
What Beach Wedding areas does your beach wedding company service?
We service beach weddings and garden weddings in the State of Florida as well as South Carolina. In Florida we service Destin Beach Weddings, Miramar Beach Weddings, Crystal Beach Weddings, Panama City Beach Weddings, Fort Walton Beach Weddings, Navarre Beach Weddings, Pensacola Beach Weddings, Santa Rosa Beach Weddings, Grayton Beach Weddings, Blue Mountain Beach Weddings, Seagrove Beach Weddings, Seacrest Beach Weddings,Inlet Beach Weddings, Okaloosa Island Weddings, Weddings at Henderson Beach State Park, Weddings at Grayton Beach State Park, Weddings at St. Andrew's State Park, Weddings at Navarre State Park, Weddings at James Lee County Park. How do we decide where our ceremony will be?
We will work together with you to decide your best beach wedding location. We go to County and State Parks, public beach accesses, hotels, condos and beach houses, once you have paid your deposit with us we will be happy to refer you to our favorite beach wedding locations. Some of the locations do charge a fee for the use of the beach as well as a "Special Use Permit"...these fees are NOT included in any of the Sunshine Wedding Company Packages". In Okaloosa County if you exceed 50 guests there is a permit fee of $200 that will need to be paid to the county. We will help you with the application but it is the client's financial obligation. Sunshine Wedding Company does reserve the right to choose the appropriate area on the beach at your location, once we are set up on the beach it is extremely difficult to relocate on the beach. We assure you we will pick the best area on the beach when we arrive to set up.
We will be staying at a Condo, can we get married there?
As long as you obtain permission from the hotel,condo or beach house that you are renting.
Be sure to ask if there is an additional fee for the use of the beach for the wedding. If your location will not allow a beach wedding we will be happy to help you choose an alternate location.
How long have you been in business?
Sunshine Wedding Company has been making beach wedding dreams come true since early 2006.
What are your office hours?
We are open Monday-Saturday for phone calls from 9a.m. to 6p.m. Meetings are by appointment only. Please note if you are coming in town for a planning weekend, we do not schedule consultations on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. These days are reserved for current weddings. We will be happy to meet with you Monday-Thursday by appointment only.
What type of payment do you accept? We accept all major credit cards, cashier's checks, money orders and personal checks, checks should be made payable to Sunshine Wedding Company, please contact us for the mailing address for payment.
Are you licensed and insured? Yes we are a licensed company in Okaloosa County, Florida, the city of Destin, Florida and the State of Florida, we are also a licensed South Carolina business, we hold a $1 million dollar general liability insurance policy, this is what is required to hold weddings on the local area beaches, and state park beaches.
Are rehearsals included?
Not in the packages, however we do offer rehearsals for an additional fee of $300.00 and rehearsals must be scheduled no later than 3 hours prior to sunset time on the day prior to your beach wedding. We do not recommend rehearsals for all weddings as we will coordinate your processional and recessional as part of your wedding package.
What happens if it rains?
You are planning a beautiful outdoor wedding so you do have to be prepared for the what-ifs..........It is the responsibility of the couple to have a "back-up" location in case of inclement weather. A back up location could be your reception location, a pavilion at the beach wedding location, etc. We will give you options to choose from such as moving up your time, changing the wedding to the next day, etc., with the options we give it is up to the couple to make that final decision, we are not responsible for inclement weather but assure you that we will do our best to make sure your wedding is on the sugar white sands of the Gulf of Mexico.
Will there be other people on the beach?
Yes. All beaches in the State of Florida and South Carolina are public beaches if someone has told you they have a "private" beach there is no such thing. We cannot “rope off” any part of the beach, though if you are getting married in Destin we highly recommend booking Henderson State Park for your location, please email or call us for further information. There are certain times of the year when the beaches have more beachgoers than others. Asking someone to move for a wedding is disrupting their right to be enjoying the beach. Most people will be kind enough to move once they see we are setting up for a beach wedding. Even “in season” the Families are usually beginning to “pack up” and leave the beach around 4:00pm-5:00pm. Then there are usually couples going for strolls along the beach. Many of them “watch” from a distance. There are some areas that are less populated than others.
How do we get our Marriage License in the State of Florida?
Every marriage license is issued by a county court judge or clerk of the circuit court under his or her hand and seal. Marriage licenses are issued by counties and you can apply for your license at any county clerk's office in the state of Florida. You can get married in any county in Florida, regardless of which county you obtained your marriage license. To obtain a marriage license you need:
- Social Security Card or Valid Passport
- Fees: $93.50. Marriage license fees can be reduced if you complete a licensed Florida pre-marital course.
Can we get our Marriage License through Mail?
In your beach wedding packages it says "legal filing of the marriage license", what does this mean?
Some couples choose to file their license on their own after the ceremony, however most Clerk of Courts ask that your officiant file it for you after the wedding ceremony, we typically do this by mail.
Who performs our beach wedding ceremony?
Sunshine Wedding Company offers an Officiant with your package. Our Officiants are either Ordained Ministers or Florida Notary Publics. Be sure to specify if you would prefer a male officiant as our company has both male and female officiates.
Can we bring our own Minister/Officiant?
Certainly, as long as he/she is an Ordained Minister or a Notary for the state in which you are getting married.
Can we write our own vows?
Yes, we encourage couples to be creative.. We also send a packet of different vows/ ring vows to choose from upon receiving the non-refundable deposit.
Who will be taking our professional beach wedding photos?
All of our packages include photos by our professional photographers, either Ray or Tamra (owners), occasionally we bring in outside photographers but assure you they will do a great job. We are very unique to this area as we offer a true professional photographer with your beach wedding package. We have been shooting beach weddings since early 2006 at the rate of over 100 weddings per year. We are very experienced and assure you that your photos will reflect our talent and expertise.
We strive to provide our clients with quality photos... however weather conditions may affect the outcome, especially fog and seaspray. If you are scheduled for a sunset wedding and arrive more than 15 minutes late- we may not be able to take the amount of photos in your package... there will be NO adjustment on costs.
Can we provide our own photographer?
Yes, you may provide your own photographer......be sure to discuss this with us upon booking your beach wedding as we may give a percentage off of your package, we also recommend that you are absolutely sure the person you have do your beach wedding photos be a true professional, not just your Aunt or Uncle that loves to take pictures as a hobby, you have one chance to get the best wedding photos. We do not make price adjustments on Saturday wedding dates.
Does Sunshine Wedding Company provide ceremony music?
Yes, please refer to our ala carte menu for pricing. We will play “mood music” as the guests arrive on the beach, the processional and recessional. We also can provide a live musician for your beach wedding for an additional cost.
Do you provide chairs?
Yes, some of our packages include chairs, we do have chairs available on our ala' carte menu as well for $8 additional per chair, we recommend a max of 20, however larger weddings should consider additional chairs.
What happens if we have to “postpone”?
Any deposits and/or payments will be applied to your new date within 1 year of cancellation of the original wedding day. If date is rescheduled 2 or more times the deposit is then forfeited to Sunshine Wedding Company and a new deposit would be required.
We have a wedding scheduled with Sunshine Wedding Company but have to cancel, what do we do?
We ask that you please notify us in writing via email. All deposits are non-refundable and non-contractual.....no exceptions. If you cancel within 30 days of your wedding date, no monies will be refunded. If you paid in full at the time of booking and you are canceling outside of 30 days then you will be refunded the difference of the appropriate deposit along with any other costs incurred of the amount paid in full.
Why do you keep the non-refundable deposit if we cancel?
Though we are very nice people, smile :) ......this is our business and our livelyhood. We already have time in to your wedding and your date has been reserved for you.....and others have been turned away, there is no guarantee we will re-book the canceled date.
Does Sunshine Wedding Company coordinate wedding receptions?
We love a big party but we leave the after party up to you. Sunshine Wedding Company does offer to continue your photography to cover your cake cutting, first dance, etc., call or email for more info and a price quote. If you need referrals or ideas for your beach wedding reception, please let us know and we'll be happy to offer up some ideas and/or referrals once you have booked with us.
